I drove up to Madras, OR for the total solar eclipse. It was freaking cool. Totally worth the ridiculous traffic on the way home. I got a lot of pictures the day before and earlier on the day of the eclipse. I didn't have my telescope yet, so these are all pictures through a normal zoom lens. For pictures of the Sun before and after totality, I held welding goggles in front of the camera. Part way through totality, I started trying to mess with the camera settings unsuccessfully, so my best picture is one of the first few during totality. During a totality of a total solar eclipse, it's actually safe to look at the Sun without eye protection. But the Sun is not safe to look at during a partial or annular eclipse.

I got some amazing sunset pictures the night before. During totality, I also got pictures in a bunch of directions around me to show the 360° sunset that happens.
